What does education mean? According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary it is â€Å"the action or process of teaching someone.† However, our education system does not reflect that type of definition. Education is a process it is never ending. Teaching is both an art and science. It requires the one doing the teaching to have a strong or a mastering understanding of the subject. This person is able to analyze, syntheses and evaluate concepts related to the subject. Education is knowledge. The education system in this country does not represent this idea of knowledge, but rather an idea of memorization. Students will be viewing their education from a very early age as a means to an end, when in fact they should be viewing it as a continuous evolving process. To many, education equals getting good grades, attending an Ivy League college and getting a well-paying job. Grades and standardize testing have become representations of an individual. In the video Losing Ourselves poses a q uestion to society if our education system is really benefiting all students to be successful in their lives?
