People tire outt win punishment and lotteries dont hurt them. further in this story it does just that. The author did a great line of work of telling how anyone and everyone can follow tradition blindly. It is dangerous not to have a mind of your own and to just follow the crowd yet if you dont understand on agree on why something is happening. The first thing that catches the eye while reading this is when the little boys lead off stuffing their pockets with stones when they arrive there. Bobby Martin had already stuffed his pockets full of stones, and the other boys soon followed his example, selecting the smoothest and roundest stones (264). T his is a great example of the mere blindness in following miserable traditions. The young boys who started getting stones ready as soon as they got there could not have fully mum the tradition. They could have not understood the complete purpose of the stones.
